In the second quarter of 2023, the top carpooling and ridesharing apps on the Android platform in Africa demonstrated diverse trends in downloads and active users. The data provided by Sensor Tower reveals key insights into the performance of these apps.

inDrive. Save on city rides saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, starting from around 87K in late March and reaching approximately 158K by the end of June. Weekly active users fluctuated but maintained a general upward trend, peaking at around 1.26M in the last week of June.

Bolt: Request a Ride experienced a mixed performance. Weekly downloads ranged from about 82K to 124K, with a notable dip in mid-June. Active users also showed some fluctuations, with numbers peaking at 2.11M in late April but ending the quarter at around 1.92M.

Uber - Request a ride displayed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting from approximately 62K in late March and ending at about 105K by the end of June. Weekly active users also saw a positive trend, growing from around 1.84M to over 2.11M during the same period.

Yassir - Ride, Eat & Shop had varying weekly downloads, peaking at around 116K in early May before dropping to about 52K by the end of June. Active users followed a similar pattern, reaching a high of approximately 388K in early May and then fluctuating to around 314K by the end of the quarter.

Yango — different from a taxi experienced steady weekly downloads, ranging from about 39K to 56K. Active users showed minor fluctuations, peaking at around 309K in mid-April and ending the quarter at approximately 268K.
